Tithing to Melchizedek Part 1 Introduction
In this article entitled A Tithing to Melchizedek Part 1 we will discuss the significance of this often misunderstood person of the Book of Genesis. This article is based on a YouTube video Tithing to Melchizedek by Bill Donahue. First however we will recap on the significance of Abraham and Sarah.
Summary of Abraham & Sarah
When Abram achieves his potential he becomes Abraham the ‘H ‘meaning to aspirate or breath.
Ab = ‘father or mind’,
Rham = ‘spirit breath’
Sarai – wife means emotions. When the emotions become detached from thought and become virgin she becomes Sarah. In that virgin consciousness she will give birth to the child. So a woman becoming VIRGIN is related to emotions becoming detached from thoughts WITHIN US. It is not confined to GENDER
Lot was the nephew of Abram and was the conflicting part. His desire was to live in Sodom which is the lower mind & It’s the desire of the emotions to rule the body.
So Abram is the desire to live in the higher consciousness, Lot the lower consciousness.
In previous conflicts of Genesis, the serpent won over Adam & Eve. Cain won over Abel also.
Now we introduced to 2 new characters 1) The King of Sodom & 2) Melchizedek.
In this section Abram will overcome his lower consciousness represented by Abel.
In Genesis chapter 14 :Damascus means’ activity’ and when it rules it means that the left side of us rule and it can cause a lot of conflict e.g. wars, killing, bad corporate business practises, greed etc.
Damascus = ’activity’ and when it rules it means that our lower consciousness is dominant and it can cause a lot of conflict e.g. wars, killing, bad corporate business practises, greed etc.
(ii) Tithing to Melchizedek Part 1 Scripture Analysis
Genesis 14: 14 And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.
318 = 3 + 1 + 8 = 12 = perfection( so his higher self).
15. And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.
This means he overcame the left side or the carnal instincts & this is the first victory of the right over the left. Remember when Adam and Eve left The Garden of Eden it was symbolic for the victory of the carnal side of over the spiritual!
The King of Sodom went out to meet him. He is your EGO! He is the King of the left side and comes out to try to make a compromise. We have a confrontation with our own ego. This happens during meditation.
King of Sodom tries to compromise with us. This is the Egos way of stopping the destruction of our lower nature which happens as we progress and let go in meditation.
21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
Abram captured the material and the left side says give me yourself and you can have all the material things you want. This is symbolic of giving our soul to the DEVIL or our lower nature.
Give me the persons = give me yourself and all that you are
Take the goods to thyself = ill then give you what you want.
This means in meditation we can think of many things not to sit still and be in ‘no thought’, we can be out into the world and our cravings will be satisfied. This is what our ego or King of Sodom is saying.
That’s where we are at with the human race we have accepted this to our cost.
Abram says he will not take one thread or thought! So when we sit down to meditate the mind says if you want to be successful you have to get a job, have a nice house, nice holidays and so on. We are sitting down with our ego, the King of Sodom. This is the restless mind that disturbs the stillness of meditation. He will not therefore compromise with the mind, and his attention is turned directly into God.
Christ was tempted by the devil in such a way as shown in the verses below:
Matthew 4 : 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
Jesus demonstrates this fact in the Gospel of Matthew and makes no compromise. Jesus does not want the material world that is offered him.
Genesis 14: 20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
Tithe is 10% and this refers to the left side of the brain in other words everything worldly. He gives up his lower side and ignores the ego. He enters the Garden of Eden or Nirvana .Tithing has been used by religious organisations to take 10% out of people’s pockets. Looking at other sections of the Bible on the topic of Tithing we can see it was never meant to be associated with giving money to the church.
So to summarise, we had the splitting of the Atom. Eve was thought, the serpent was contradictory thought. Abram wanted to live on the right side so he had to get rid of Lot because he wanted to live in Sodom. God talks to Abram when Lot is gone. The king of Sodom comes out to tempt Abram who does not yield. Melchizedek comes out to greet Abram and gives him truth and spirit.
Tithing has been used by religious organisations to take 10% out of peoples pockets.
21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God:
Bearing in mind this happened out in the desert, there were no churches or formal religious institutions.
The tenth unto thee = Again meaning his worldly side is sacrificed to spirit. He obviously cannot give to a church !
Genesis 14: 18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.
Bread = truth.
The high priest = holy place or right side.
Wine = spirit of the right side. From this we can rise above all of the hurt and violence that has been with us most of our lives.
Bread and wine was not unique to the Bible. They became the body and blood of Osiris (bread and beer). When culture moved to Greece it was changed to bread and wine as Dionysius was worshiped.
If we go to:
1st Kings 6 : 7 And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.
So the temple was built in SILENCE during MEDITATION.
8 The door for the middle chamber was in the right side of the house: and they went up with winding stairs into the middle chamber, and out of the middle into the third.
Winding stairs = kundalini rising up the spine
Middle third = right hemisphere of the brain or SPIRITUAL SIDE.
Into the Third = 3rd Heaven the same as when the Apostle Paul had an outer body experience:
2nd Corinthians 2 : 2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
Paradise = the spiritual realms inside of man
Unspeakable words = the sound of God or Aum, Shabd, etc which can be meditated upon.
Not lawful for a man to utter = not usual to ‘throw pearls before the swine’ or speak about spiritual truths just to glorify the self, or when people are not ready to hear them.
To summarise Genesis so far the following has taken place:
- Splitting of the Atom.
- Eve was thought, the serpent was contradictory thought.
